Subject: Sky Valley Development - Signature Properties Project on Lake Herman Road

Solano County has issued a draft Negative Declaration for the Signature Properties project on Lake Herman Road. The proposal is to subdivide 171 acres into eight parcels of approximately 20 acres each. I assume one singe-family house will be built on each parcel. Solano County will accept comments on the Draft Negative Declaration until 5:00 PM on May 22, 2008.
I do not know much more about the project but as I learn more details I will update my email notice.
The development of eight rural residential units on 170 acres north of Lake Herman Road raises many questions in regard to impacts to the City of Benicia. This area is also a listed species habitat area. Also, in this day when are talking about sustainable development and climate change issues including reducing the dependence on cars and greenhouse gas emissions (60% in Solano County versus state average of 43%) rural residential does not seem to be the type of development that should be encouraged. |
