Attached are more materials for the Policy Issue ranking for the 4/1/08 council meeting. The ranking will be discussed and confirmed at the meeting. You can see that two categories of great public interest - campaign reform (or clean campaigns) and Big Box store restriction - do not have council majority support. I have been advised that my previous strategy of putting the campaign and big box ordinances on the agenda under Council Comments is contrary to the policy setting purpose of the this agenda item. This procedure will be discussed tonight by the City Manager. If you comment this evening you might suggest that since we've had many meetings on these two subjects, it is not necessary to schedule workshops, but the public would like to revisit the campaign reform in light of the last election and big box stores. |
