Subject: Mayor's Cultural Committee and other Agenda Items for December 4th

Next Tuesday's agenda files are downloadable below. There are three agendas: the first is for the sitting council. The second agenda is for the newly installed council.
The item of interest on that agenda is my request for the Council to place on the agenda of the following meeting in December the approval of the Mayor's Cultural Committee. The purpose of this ad hoc committee is to explore the nature and characteristic of a permanent city sponsored Cultural Committee. It is intended that the committee convene public workshops to solicit ideas and to report to the council within 3 months or sooner their recommendation for purpose (mission), scope, membership (qualifications and representation), goals and other issues. This ad hoc Committee will be guided by the General Plan's requirement for such a committee.
Many community residents have been seeking a City Cultural Commission for decades.
The Council is being asked to place this on the next agenda for action including appointments to the ad hoc committee and with specific directions to the Committee.
